It's all about me...
I left university in 1998 with a BA(hons) in Photography and a portfolio full of "art house" prints. My work at that time had yet to involve the digital process or electronic manipulation. Upon leaving education I found myself to be utterly unemployable, so I began a freelance career in photography. In the first instance I assisted established commercial photographers on advertising shoots for many brand leaders. In 2000 I started my own brand of freelance imaging under the name of "Savagephoto" and began working for the Surrey Institute of Art and Design within the Photographic and Media technical department.
I continued to develop my own commercial practise in tandem with managing the transition from traditional photography to digital imaging. I consider myself lucky to have worked in photography through the last decade of a digital revolution, which I believe benefits my photography and teaching. As a result I'm equally at home in a darkroom or using digital techniques and Photoshop.
I continue to develop my own work to produce saleable images for commercial and social purpose. Technical excellence is always paramount in my work. I have developed digital imaging skills to a level that I am an (ACE) Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop.
My photographic freelance activity continues to involves catalogue work, web images, model portfolios, studio and location. My teaching is the fastest developing area of my skill set and I have courses running at both the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham and West Dean College plus numerous individuals using my consultancy in some really exciting and fantasatic projects. Please view the short course link on this site for further info.
I'm scheduled to commence Post-Graduate study (Masters Degree in Photography) in October of this year.
